2024
Fic submissions due in:
♛ Glory Pro Alliance ♛
About
Hello, fellow Glory fans!We welcome you to our debut Reverse Big Bang event!Differently from a traditional Big Bang, in a Reverse Big Bang, the artwork is completed first. After being partnered with artists in blind claims, writers will use their chosen artwork as a fic prompt. Think of it as a fun challenge! But just like in our Big Bang, the emphasis is the same: teamwork! After all, Glory isn’t a single-player game…
Bear in mind: As this is our first time introducing a new event in years, we may make some rookie mistakes in the running of it. We ask for your patience. But, seeing as it's a new event, whether or not we run it again will depend on you and your feedback!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
NEED TO KNOW
What is a Reverse Big Bang?
According to Fanlore, “A Reverse Bang is a fanart/fanfic challenge akin to a Big Bang, only with the fanart created first to inspire the fic.” Artists are tasked with creating fanart that is accompanied by a writer’s original fanfiction. Participants generally find that the partnership and check-ins built into the event encourage them to finish their work in a timely manner. All works created for the event are kept secret until the assigned posting dates. The goal is to flood our fandom with exciting new fanworks for several days so we can all feast!Fics and fanart of what kind?
Any kind you like! Characters, themes, ships, it’s all up to you. Artwork must be published in a completed state along with the accompanying fanfiction at 4,500 words minimum. How do I participate?
Just read the rules and schedule, then sign up using the form linked on the homepage. Can I sign up for more than one role?
Yes, but you’ll need to be discreet about any insider knowledge when it comes to claims and such. How do I stay informed?
Event notifications, check-ins etc. will be passed along via email. Please do not rely on our social media accounts to stay up to date; we are not always consistent about updates. Participants must check their email often and REPLY when they are asked to.Any special requirements?
An alias, an email address, and an AO3 account. Fans of all ages are welcome (restrictions apply). We will be offering generalized updates and reminders through our Discord server, our social media accounts, and email. Can I back out at any time?
Yes. Keep in mind that all dropouts wreak a bit of havoc on our arrangements, however. Please don’t sign up if you’re not determined to see the event through.
For artists
How much art will I be expected to contribute?
At least one artwork for claims—but you can submit two or three if you’re feeling ambitious. Our goal is to make sure every artist is partnered up. That doesn’t mean all your artwork will be chosen by writers; it all depends on the number of participants. What counts as art?
Drawings, paintings, comics, photo manipulations… Just about any visual medium counts, as long as it’s of your own creation and clearly described.Speaking of assignments, can I chose who writes for my work?
No, writer claims are blind. Writers will decide who and what to write for based on the artwork provided. Can I submit previously published artwork?
Nope! Brand new works only. Never before seen, fresh to death, etc.
For Writers
Is there a maximum/minimum word count for writers?
The minimum is 4,500 words, and there is no maximum. Fics can be split into chapters, too, so long as they are completed. Go wild. Can I choose the artist I write my fic for?
No, writer claims are blind. You will decide who to write for based on the provided artwork, but you won’t know who is drawing what (unless you recognize the art style—we can’t do anything about that). Can I submit a previously published fic?
Nope! Brand new works only. Never before seen, fresh to death, etc.Can I submit more than one fic?
No, unless you are asked to by the moderators. Since this is a new event for us, we don’t know what the numbers will look like. We will do our best to adapt to the participants’ needs and feedback. Are we allowed to have a beta reader?
Yes. You can have as many as you like, so long as they are discreet—all submissions must be kept secret. We will not open beta reader signups so the choice is up to you.
